Children receive an excellent start to the Early Years Foundation Stage at St germans School. We aim to quickly establish bonds with parents and carers and to build trusting and supportive relations with them. As a result, teachers are able to identify and then provide for children’s individual learning needs to ensure they are very well supported in their Foundation Stage and prepared for learning at Key Stage 1 
In Foundation Stage there are three prime areas of learning: Personal, Social and Emotional Development, Communication and Language and Physical Development.
The four specific areas of learning are Maths, Literacy, Understanding the World and Art and Design. Every child is encouraged to play and explore, learn actively and think creatively as they enjoy their first year at school.
